Career History
From Past to Present (Updated April 20th 2003)
At the tender young age of 7, Ms. Richards was introduced to the entertainment industry when she modeled clothing in a Mother's Day print advertisment for a mall. She "thought it was the most exciting experience, and afterwards wanted to do anything that had to do with being on camera."
Before long, she landed her first on-screen assignment as a ballerina in a hair-salon commercial, and an acting role in the long-running television series, "THe Golden Girls". The more significant assignments she undertook in her youth were "Switched at Birth" (1991), "Locked Up: A Mother's Rage" (1992), and of course, "Jurassic Park" (1993). For the former two movies, she obtained two consecutive "Best Young Actress in Television Movies" awards.
In 1993, Ms Richards received the "Best Young Actress Starring in a Motion Picture" award for her role in "Jurassic Park". The highest-grossing film for the years 1993-1997, "Jurassic Park" shot Ms. Richards to international fame. Ms. Richards has since acted and cameoed in several other movies such as "Angus" (1995), "Born Free: A New Adventure (1996), "The Princess Stallion" (1997), "The Lost World: Jurassic Park" (1997) and "Race Against Fear" (1998).
Ms. Richards' latest movie, "Tremors III: Back to Perfection" (2001) was released on the 2nd of October 2001. "Tremors III" is the third installment in the cult monster trilogy that began in 1990 with "Tremors". Ms. Richards reprised her role as "Mindy Sterngood", a character she played in the first installment.
Ms. Richards is currently working as an artist. To view some of her works, you may visit her online art gallery, "Gallery Ariana" by clicking here. |

Other Works
In mid-2001, Ms. Richards hosted a short feature showcasing the special-effects behind the production of Jurassic Park III. This video was put up for general viewing on the Jurassic Park III official site. A copy of the 14.1MB video in Quicktime format can also be obtained from Scifi/Lunatic's Ariana Richards Archives.
As a professional graphics artist, Ms. Richards has also worked on several art pieces. A lithograph of one, "Raptor Vision", was made available to public in 2001. The limited edition work measures 19" x 25" and is not framed. Only 1000 pieces were made. Retail price for the artwork is US$150.00 excluding shipping. The package includes a numbered Certificate of Authencity signed by Ms. Richards and her mother, an autographed picture of Ms. Richards, as well as a short write-up on Ms. Richards' background as an artist. The lithograph is no longer available for purchase at this point of time. We will post a notice here if it should become available again in the future. |
